Watson XC Classic Recap

Monday, October 16 2023 - Watson High School Classic (7th -12th Grade)


We had another great week!  

On Saturday, October 14th the Eagles visited beautiful Choctaw Trails for the Watson High School Cross Country Classic hosted by Mississippi College.  This weekend brought great racing weather and a stunning number of Personal Records (PRs) on the 5k distance.

The Varsity Boys kicked the morning off by racing in the Gold division, which was for elite runners of any classification with a team ability of 18:40 or better (5k distance). The boys posted a strong 4th place finish in the Gold division and had three runners (A. Monistere, K. Feucht, and C. Whipp) break the school 5k record!  Finishing 4th overall and leading the charge for the eagles was A. Monistere with a time of 15:34.10 PR(4). K. Feucht was the second man in with a time of 16:28.46 PR(23).  The next three scoring runners were C. Whipp (16:32.89 PR(26)), E. Delatte (16:49.27 PR(37)), and R. Boudreaux  (17:12.99 PR(38)). Rounding out the field was K. Broussard (17:49.06 PR(68)).

The Varsity Girls were up next in the Silver Division with a 4th place finish and three runners in the top 20!  B. Monistere led the way with a time of 21:20.37 PR(6), followed by H. Begnaud (21:53.85 (18)).  Next up was C. McCulloch, with a new PR of 22:01.89 (20), followed by J. Brooks (23:45.08 (54)), and G. Davis (26:38.83 (119)). 

The JV boys also raced in the Silver Division and were led by C. Albright (18:30.94 (53)), followed by A. Watts (18:58.59 (67)), C. Scott (19:16.54 (82)), DJ Haney (20:45.35 (158)), and Philip Lee (22:56.38 (245)).

The Cross Country team will be back in action Thursday, October 26th at the EBR Metro Championship at Highland Road Park. Varsity Girls will race at 4:30pm and Varsity Boys at 5:00pm.
